Many households use natural stone for bathroom floors and walls. Most common household cleaning and disinfecting products contain acidic and alkaline chemicals that severely damage natural stone. These substances react adversely with the surface pigment and internal mineral components of the stone. Worse still, most cleaners need to remain on the stone surface for at least five minutes to work effectively — yet the stone gets damaged during this period. Therefore, pH-neutral cleaners should be used for cleaning natural stone surfaces in bathrooms.
Tiles are the prevailing flooring and wall material for bathrooms. Loose or fallen tiles are a common issue, mainly because cement mortar, the traditional adhesive for tile installation, has insufficient bonding strength and deteriorates easily in persistently humid environments. An effective solution is to use resin-based adhesives. They deliver bonding strength equal to or higher than that of the tiles themselves, and prevent tile detachment even under long-term damp conditions.
Bathroom tiles are prone to stains from grease, rust and soap scum. To keep tile surfaces clean while preserving their gloss, all-purpose cleaning cream is recommended. For grout lines: first scrub away dirt with a brush dipped in a small amount of cleaning cream, then apply a layer of waterproof agent to the gaps.
