Shanghai Jiani Material Technology Co., Ltd. is a professional company specializing in the production of stone tiles.
With the widespread application of stone materials in construction, they have gradually made their way into the home furnishing industry. Stone flooring has become the top choice for an increasing number of people, and terrazzo flooring has also gained greater popularity. However, the repair and polishing of terrazzo flooring often pose challenges to construction workers. Below is a detailed introduction to the key construction points for terrazzo flooring repair and polishing.
(1) Construction Procedure
Crack repair → Mechanical polishing → Color touch-up → Protective agent coating
(2) Key Operational Points
Crack Repair
1. Identify the type and strength grade of the original cement used for the terrazzo flooring, as well as the particle size range of the aggregate stones.
2. Select cement identical to the original material and aggregate stones with a closely matched particle size.
3. Widen the cracks along their natural direction.
4. Mix the selected cement and aggregate stones in the proper proportion.
5. Fill the cracks with the prepared terrazzo mixture. Thoroughly clean the cracks first, then apply a concrete bonding agent to ensure firm adhesion between the new material and the existing flooring.
Mechanical Polishing
1. Before mechanical polishing, confirm that all cracks are fully repaired and the newly filled terrazzo has set firmly and reached sufficient strength.
2. Start grinding with 600-grit high-grade abrasive stones layer by layer.
3. After the first full grinding pass, inspect the surface effect, then switch to higher-grit abrasive stones for finer polishing as required.
4. Pay close attention to grinding at repaired cracks. Keep polishing until the joint surfaces are completely flat.
5. Use a portable small grinder for grinding internal corners.
Color Touch-up
1. Clean the polished floor with oxalic acid.
2. Carefully inspect the repaired cracks and check for color differences on the floor surface.
3. In case of obvious color deviation, engage professional personnel for color matching and touch-up to minimize discrepancies.
Protective Agent Coating
1. Ensure the floor surface is completely dust-free prior to application.
2. Apply the stone protective agent evenly over the entire surface with no missed areas.
