Seamless Stone Renovation Technology
The so-called seamless stone renovation process refers to filling the gaps between installed stone slabs with special gap filler matching the stone’s hue, followed by grinding and polishing with professional equipment and techniques. After this treatment, the stone surface delivers an integrated, seamless visual effect without segmented seams.
The standard procedures of seamless stone renovation are listed below:
1. Clear out the old filler in stone joints completely. Employ a professional stone joint cutter to neatly recut the original installation joints, minimizing width discrepancies between stone gaps. Fill the joints with marble glue tinted to match the stone color.
(Note: Recutting is unnecessary if joint treatment was previously completed.)
2. Mix marble glue to precisely match the natural tone of the stone. Accurate color matching maximizes surface integrity and achieves optimal visual results.
3. Fill the joints with the tinted marble glue. Marble glue shrinks moderately after full curing, so apply the glue slightly above the stone surface to avoid repeated refilling.
4. Grind the excess glue flat using polishing pads and grinding compound to align it flush with the stone panels. This eliminates uneven joint edges and prevents darkening of joints in the future. Utilize a granite renovation machine paired with special edge grinding discs to carefully sand joint edges for a unified flat surface.
5. Grinding & Polishing: Use a dedicated granite polisher and wet stone grinding pads ranging from 50# (coarse) to 3000# (fine) for progressive grinding. This restores the floor to a smooth, glossy finish as new.
6. Crystallization Treatment: Polish the stone surface with a crystal polishing machine, stone crystal powder and crystal agents. Under heavy grinding pressure and high temperature, physical and chemical reactions occur between the stone and crystal powder, forming a dense, rigid protective crystal film. Crystallization enhances the stone’s color saturation and gloss, while delivering anti-slip, waterproof and oil-resistant performance.
After full execution of the above processes, the stone joints feature consistent gloss and color matching the stone slabs for strong overall unity. Thanks to the stain-resistant, waterproof and anti-oxidation properties of marble glue, dark discoloration of joints will no longer reoccur.
